The storm of July 20, 2014 is memorable for many reasons – golf-ball sized hail, funnel clouds and flash flooding – throughout Northern Nevada.

For one Minden family, memories of the storm are particularly poignant as tons of mud now surrounds – and fills – their home. And not just where they live, but also where they work. The owners of Olson Seamless Gutters, Deb and Brent Olson run their business out of their home.

s vehicles, computers and business papers. Neighbors gathered to help, wielding shovels, wheelbarrows and garbage bags, but so much more is needed.

Because their home is not on what is considered flood plain, the Olsons were not required to carry flood insurance. The county declared the incident a flashflood and not a natural disaster, so their insurance will not cover the damages.

Utilities have been restored and this hard working family has set up a new makeshift office in their dining room. “Everything is running, except the air conditioning,” Daylin Olson, Deb and Brent’s daughter, reported. They’ve lost Brent’s truck and trailer, the office computers, and ten years’ worth of landscaping in their front and back yards.

Please help the Olson family get back on their feet. Daylin has set up a fundraising site to help raise money for the massive clean-up they are facing. Every little bit helps.
